Are you a camper or a glamper?

Are you a camper or a glamper?

In the way the same way that some people flick through gossip magazines or holiday brochures to relax, I leaf through camping guides, drinking in the sunny photographs and planning road trips in my fantasy campervan. Is that weird? Well, it might explain why this offering from Punk Publishing has had me dribbling with anticipation.

Glamping Getaways is jam packed with stylish and unusual camping experiences, from a pioneer style canoe and tipi adventure in the Wye valley, to a romantic gypsy caravan in Somerset with it’s own solar powered shower, or a safari lodge complete with wild animals on the wide open plains of… erm, Kent.

glampingThese ‘glampsites’ won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, especially if you prefer your camping pure and simple with just a bivvy bag and a freeze dried meal for company. Also some of them are pushing the envelope a bit on price, when you consider that the accommodation is usually a glorified version of a tent and not hotel room. However, what you will be getting is an experience unlike any hotel you’ve ever stayed in.

Some purists may say that glamping is a passing fad, but I think the publishing of this guide shows that it is definitely here to stay. There will always be demand for a camping experience where all the hassle is taken out, and a bit of extra comfort and style thrown in. Ultimately, whether we’re campers or ‘glampers’, we all share the same desire to slow down and get away from it all in a glorious natural setting. With or without our own wood-burning stove.

Glamping Getaways is available from the FAF online store, as well as lots of other inspirational guides for enjoying the outdoors.
