Taking a fresh direction

Taking a fresh direction

Hi everyone, I wanted to share with you some important decisions I’ve made about Fresh Air Fix this week.

When I started this blog back in March 2010, I was working full time in central London at a job that wasn’t my passion. I wanted to make a full time living from writing, but didn’t really know how and was probably a bit scared about making the leap.

This blog was, and still is, an escape. Something to pour my creativity into, and a way to share my passion for the outdoors with all you lovely FAF’ers.

In autumn 2011, the business I was working for went bust and I lost my job. This was doubly hard because it was the family business, run by my dad and also employing my brother. Needless to say, it was a really tough time for us all, but we survived and emerged stronger and wiser!

Of course, they say every cloud has a silver lining and this was exactly the kick up the bum I needed to push me into freelance writing, and I haven’t looked back.

So why am I telling you all of this? Well because building up a new business, taking on new projects and clients, supporting my family and keeping on top of all the emails, admin, research and content creation for FAF has taken its toll on my work/life balance. Working evenings and weekends doesn’t leave much time for enjoying those very things that FAF is all about.

So I’ve decided to take my foot off the gas a bit with FAF. I’ll still be posting, tweeting and facebooking, but just a bit less frequently. Fingers crossed this will mean I can spend a bit more quality time with family, friends and in the fresh air (!), still offer a great service to my new clients and continue to share great content on this blog.

So here’s to finding that elusive work/life balance, and to loving the outdoors this summer!
