It’s the biggest mountain festival of its kind in the world, and at the heart of the event is the international Film Festival which takes place from 17th to 20th November.
Over 70 films will be shown but it’s not all adrenaline fuelled action. The films also embrace the spirit of exploration and adventure, plus there are documentaries about wildlife and mountain people.
The top speakers from the world of mountaineering this year include American climber Lynn Hill, ‘poet-climber’ Ed Drummond, Pakistani mountaineer Nazir Sabir, and US alpinist Jim Wickwire. Plus there’s the world film premiere of The Long Hope, with Dave MacLeod and Andy Turner describing the first free ascent of the Longhope Route on Hoy (check out the behind the scenes video above).
Tickets are selling fast and apparently two events are already sold out, so if you grab them while you can from the festival website.
