Britain’s Biggest Bike Fix is an ambitious attempt to repair as many bikes as possible during Team Green Britain Bike Week.
Research shows that 77% of people own a bike yet only 14% use them regularly, so this year Team Green Britain Bike Week is encouraging people to dust down and liberate the thousands of once-loved bikes languishing in sheds around the country, by making an appointment with their local ‘Dr Bike’.
Dr Bikes are trained mechanics or enthusiastic cyclists who perform health checks on bikes and are a key service to have at your event to help achieve Britain’s Biggest Bike Fix. Anyone can set up their own ‘Dr Bike’ event, via the Team Green Britain website. You can offer their own services as a mechanic, or search for someone else to do the spanner work via the Cycling Experts and Bike For All websites.
This year’s Team Green Britain Bike Week takes place from 18-26th June and last year just under 500,000 people took part. It’s designed to show how cycling can be part of people’s everyday lives, and offers 100’s of events including bike maintenance workshops and cycling festivals.
