Join London based adventurers Tim Moss and Laura Tomlinson for the final 5k leg of their ‘Run the Tube’ challenge, which has seen them cover 179 miles so far for charity.
They have been running the length of every Tube line in London over the course of 2010, covering 134 miles of track, passing 162 Tube stations and through 24 London Boroughs. For their 5k ‘victory lap’, they’ll be running the Waterloo and City line on Thursday September 9th and they’re inviting you to join them as long as you come dressed as a tube station!
Laura was inspired to do raise money for the British Lung Foundation, after losing her granddad to asbestosis in May 2009. She’s also a strong believer in fitting a bit of adventure into your adventure into your everyday life. “I can’t take long holidays to do a ‘proper’ expedition at the moment, but running the tube lines lets me fit a bit of adventure into my normal working week, in my own backyard. Running through wheat fields in Zone 6 felt like an expedition in itself, and best of all, it’s a huge challenge for free, with minimal equipment and faff.”
“I love the fact that we can have such a great adventure in our own city” adds Tim, who blogs about his adventures at www.thenextchallenge.org. “Running through Central London may not sound a lot of fun but it is a real treat. We have seen so much of our beautiful city, cutting wonderful bisections with each run, watching the changing places and people as we go”
If you want to join them, then the run starts and finishes on the green by the London Eye on Thursday 9th September at 6pm. They would appreciate a £10 charity donation, which also goes towards a few refreshments and prizes.
