If you’re fed up of pounding pavements and fancy heading off road, then try the Salomon Trail Running Series which runs throughout the summer.
These mid-week 10km trail runs are all set in beautiful locations around the UK, and offer a relaxed way to have a go at competitive trail running. Each mid week race begins at 7pm in the evening so there’s plenty time to get there after work, and there’s also a 3km fun run for anyone wanting to take it at a more leisurely pace.
If you want to step it up a gear, then try the Turbo X events. These are 10 mile races will have you wading through water, clambering through mud, sand and bog and include a natural assault course, designed to push your stamina, agility and perseverance.
If these events have then whetted your appetite to get serious about trail running, then join the Salomon Running Team at a training camp. Held throughout the UK, they’ll give you guidance and skills training from coaches and pro’s including professional trail runners Ricky Lightfoot, Anna Frost and Tom Owens. You’ll learn about off road techniques, nutrition, injury prevention and personalised training programmes as well as the right kit to use to get the best out of your off-road mileage.
To top it all, there are the Salomon Trail Marathons. All standards of runner can take part though you will need to be marathon fit. A regular level of running is needed in the months leading up to the event, as well as some off road experience and well worn off road running shoes!
Still feel like hopping on that treadmill? We thought not… www.salomontrails.com
